Dr Lisa Burke is an AHPRA registered Clinical Psychologist and Member of The Australian Psychological Society. Amongst other degrees, Lisa has completed a Masters of Health Studies and a Doctorate of Clinical Psychology.  

Lisa has worked in mental health for over 25 years, including extensive postgraduate specialisation in thanatology (the scientific study of death, dying, grief, and loss).  

In recognition of her clinical, teaching, and research expertise, Lisa has been designated a Fellow in Thanatology by the international peak body, the Association for Death Education and Counselling.  She regularly publishes in the thanatology field and speaks at national and international conferences.

Lisa works with clients across the adult lifespan who are coping with grief and loss.   Lisa’s clientele includes those grieving death-related losses such as when partners, children, parents, siblings,  friends, colleagues,  or pets are dying or have died.  Lisa's doctoral dissertation focused on those grieving perinatal or pregnancy loss.

Lisa’s clientele also includes those grieving non-death losses such as adoption, developmental experiences (e.g. infertility, ageing, gender), life transitions and changes (e.g. endings, divorce, retirement), and unexpected mental or physical health diagnoses.  

In addition to supporting grieving clients, Lisa supports clients who are experiencing depression, mood disorders, anxiety, trauma, PTSD, stress, self-esteem, personality, relationships, communication, or interpersonal concerns.
